Here are all the details for After-school Clubs 2018/19. Full details of costs/times etc are on registration forms which can be found on the links below. Once you have found a club you like then you need to sign up...

  • Check the timetable below to see what day the club is on.
  • Please note the class levels for each club.
  • Click on the link to register and fill in all details
  • You will receive an email from the club organiser confirming that the club will go ahead and whether your child has a place. Note that spaces may be limited in certain clubs.
  • All clubs will begin in the week starting on October 8th.

After School Sports Club - - This club aims to provide lots of fun activities in an inclusive supervised environment - basketball, football, unihoc, dodgeball, rounders, hurling, dance and lots more. For more info email: bkelly@smpps.ie

Art Club: Art and crafts club allows children to explore their creative side through the process of art. Children explore various mediums and tools to express themselves artistically. From clay to pastels and everything in between, every child will have the opportunity to create, construct and collaborate with friends. Children learn to make personal choices, contribute ideas, and work independently. For the child who is passionate about art and wants to have fun on the journey to producing works of art and keepsakes. Classes run from 3-4pm on Thursdays for 2nd to 6th class, with Ms. Clerkin and Ms. Shaw. For further information contact rclerkin@smpps.ie

Athletics Club - Athletics club will provide students with the opportunity to develop their gross motor skills through activities including running, jumping, throwing and walking. The aim of this club is to get students active after school and to promote physical activity in a fun environment. Athletics will run on Thursdays from 3-4pm.

Bodhrán Beats Club: All children love to play with drums. Not only is it fun, it’s also vital for their development. A Bodhrán circle can teach children mutual respect, cooperation, listening, coordination and fine motor skill development, as well as developing qualities like perseverance, self-discipline and mental agility.This club will engage your child in learning the bodhrán through a fun and active environment. Your child will learn a variety of musical and rhythmic concepts through drumming including basic Irish rhythms, bodhran scales, in-depth explanation of the structure of Irish music, dynamics, styles, games, and a chance to play with a live musician.This club will aim to have your child ‘Fleadh Ready’ for the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Drogheda 2019. Coding Club provides a space for children to learn about digital skills and coding in a safe, fun environment. We provide easy to follow coding projects which help children from 1st -6th  learn Scratch by making games, animations and stories. The projects gradually introduce coding concepts to allow children to grow their understanding of digital making.  Limited Spaces Available. Creative Kids Club: this club will develop creative thinking and writing skills in a fun and interactive space, without the pressure of the classroom environment. We bring our stories to life through art, drama, movie creation and games. Join our club to make new friends, to share and develop your talents and most of all to have fun. “Let your imagination run wild.” Thursday, 3pm-4pm, 1st-6th class welcome. D.A.N.C.E club is a high energy class where students will explore many varieties of dance such as Swing, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Tap and Contemporary. Students will learn how to build coordination and rhythm, as well as learn how to get inside the mind of a choreographer, learning the tips and fundamentals to creating dance routines. They will be taken through a series of steps and movements, learning choreographed routines. Dance is a form of expression and individuality, and I look forward to working with your children. Debating Club - Love the sound of your own voice? This club provides children with an opportunity to discuss, dissect and debate a range of topical issues relevant to the lives of children today. From contemporary issues to courtroom cases, this club provides children with an opportunity to develop communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills along with building confidence in public speaking. Debating club will run each Tuesday from 3-4pm and is suitable for all children from 4th-6th class. Limited spaces available. For more information please email: nherron@smpps.ie

Friday Futsal / Football Club: This club aims to provide lots of fun sporting activities in an inclusive supervised environment. Futsal
  • promotes better technique and develops skills more rapidly.improves players decision making skills.
  • provides players with more touches on the ball.
  • the heavier ball increases the power of players.
  • develops the confidence in players to go 1v1 against their opponent.
  • allows players to be creative in getting around their opposition.

Feel Free Friday: The aim of this club is for the children to wind down after a long week at school. A relaxing club for children on a Friday that will not only build their social skills but also make lots of new friends. Children will get involved in a variety of fun and relaxing activities designed to both entertain and stretch young minds. Activities range from different  sports (indoor and outdoor), yoga (mindfulness), computers, tablets, dance, film making, art, board games, cooking and lots more…

Fun and Games with Numbers: This club will help you to improve your maths skills and solve problems  through fun board games, dice games, computer games and much more! This club is suitable for children from 1st-3rd class and will take place on Tuesdays 3-4pm. For more information email  emckenna@smpps.ie

Guitar: Guitar Club caters for various levels of experience including total beginners. The children will learn chords in order to play accompaniment for a number of songs which will increase in difficulty as they progress throughout the year. Through learning the guitar children will develop their memory skills, enhance their coordination, improve concentration and most importantly have fun while learning a musical instrument. Homework Club offers an excellent opportunity for children to do their homework in a quiet and structured environment under the supervision and guidance of a teacher. Homework Club runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 pm to 4 pm and is open to all children from 2nd-6th class. For further information, please email: bkelly@smpps.ie

Indoor Games: This club aims to provide lots of fun gaming activities in an inclusive supervised environment. The children will play pool (two pool tables), foosball, table tennis, air hockey, darts, chess and many more  board games. There will also be a NEW ‘Green Screen’ for the children to create their own animations and background scenes. Thursday from 3pm-4pm. For ALL queries please email chanlon@smpps.ie

Irish Dance Club - Teaching the FUNdamentals of Irish dance. Students will learn traditional set and solo Irish dance. The focus of this club is to be active and learn about an interesting and fun aspect of Irish culture in a non-competitive club environment. Children will develop balance, co-ordination, fitness levels while socialising with friends. Suitable for beginners and improvers. Lego: Lego club is about having fun. Use your imagination to build and create. We also have other Lego sets to build using instructions and to play with. Lego club is an excellent opportunity to meet new people, work as part of a team and take on design challenges. M.A.D. Hatters Club: Join us in M.A.D. Hatters club where you will enjoy the wonderful world of music, art and drama combined. We will have so much fun learning and writing songs, making music, creating our own artworks and even writing our own plays. Come alive and be part of the greatest show! Mighty Marbles Club - Students from 1st to 6th class will have fun and develop their hand-eye coordination skills and aiming with this traditional playground game. Students will have the opportunity to take part in basic skills lessons, friendly matches and tournaments which involve basic maths problem solving. This club will offer students the opportunity to make friends with peers in the school and develop their social skills. This club will run on Tuesdays from 3-4pm.

Make It & Bake It Club: Do you like getting creative? Have you got a keen eye for design and awesome cupcake decorating skills? Do you ever think about making things that you can use? Have you ever fancied putting you baking skills to the test? This is the club for you - we do it all. From decorating cupcakes to making incredible crafts from fabric, scoobies, loom bands, beads, clay and other materials. Reading Club: Love books? Love fun and games? Love acting out your favourite stories? Children in reading club are encouraged to read and discuss their favourite books. They also will get to enjoy stories being read aloud and to try out writing/ illustrating their very own books. Every Wednesday 3pm- 4pm for 1st to 6th classes. Science Club: Science Club: Fancy yourself as a Scientist? Then come join Science Club where you will do fun, freaky and fantabulous experiments and answer questions that would blow your mind! (Not really) Every member will gets hands on for some science fun. Bring your inquisitive mind, imagination and ideas! Speech and Drama: Through vocal warm ups and speech activities we develop vocal projection, and clarity, extending our oral language skills.  The art of pause, emphasis, inflection, pitch rate and pace are explored through poetry, prose, reading aloud and Drama.  Through games and exercises we hone in on our public speaking skills developing fluency and confidence in our speech. Tin Whistle Club: Learning the tin whistle is one of the easiest and most effective ways in developing your child's instrumental music abilities. Learning to play the tin whistle will improve your child’s memory and recall, hand eye coordination and fine motor skills as well as developing listening, numeracy, reading and auditory skills. This club will engage your child in learning the tin whistle in a fun and active environment. Throughout this club your child will learn scales, reading notation and learning basic tunes progressing to more complex Irish tunes including Ireland Call, Amhrán na bhFiann, polkas, jigs and reels while simultaneously developing their understanding of a range of different musical concepts. Ukuhooley: Ukulele is a fun, accessible instrument with quick and easy progression. Each week we will be working on different songs, developing strumming patterns and learning new chord progressions. Playing the ukulele helps build confidence, develops personal expression and above all sparks joy! This club is suitable for beginner to intermediate level players. Students can bring their own ukulele or they can rent one, for the duration of the lessons, for just 5 euros for the year.

Wednesday Sports & Skills Club:This club aims to provide lots of fun sporting activities in an inclusive supervised environment. A wide range of sports will be covered such as futsal, soccer, indoor hurling, basketball, unihoc dodgeball,pool and much more. There will be an emphasis on developing sporting skills in an encouraging and fun atmosphere. *Note* This club was previously on a Friday and run by Mr Shaw & Mr Hanlon.
